Monastery 17 Loch Ness Holiday

Monastery 17 Loch Ness holiday apartment is a two bedroom self catering holiday rental. It sits on the top floor in the roof of the beautiful Monastery Wing of the Highland Club.

When booking for Chrismas and New Year please do not book to arrive on  the 25th or 26th of December as no check in will be avaiable.  This does not apply to all apartments.

The Highland Club is the former Saint Benedictine Abbey in Fort Augustus in the heart of the Scottish Highlands. The stairs to this holiday apartment are well worth the climb. For once there the views out across Loch Ness, the Abbey Cloisters and the hills of the Great Glen make it worth the effort.

If you are looking for the perfect place to spend your holiday, Monastery 17 Loch Ness holiday apartment is an ideal base for touring from due to its central Highland location. Go east towards Inverness and Drumnadrochit, or west to Fort William and Ben Nevis. Additionally, the Isle of Sky is only a couple of hours drive from here.

So, you do not need to travel far to find excellent local places for eating and drinking. The Boat House Restaurant is within the grounds of the Highland Club, sitting at the foot of Loch Ness. Also, you can enjoy a pleasant walk to the nearby village and sample the many bars and restaurants there.

Monastery 8 – Paterson

Luxurious self-catering apartment in the Monastery Fort Augustus Abbey.

The apartment has two bedrooms but will sleep six by making use of a small double sofa bed. Indoor heated swimming pool, tennis court, croquet, table tennis, giant chess, boules and other activities are available within the grounds of the Abbey. The Monastery lawn, with loch-side barbecue area and seating is set on the lawns between the Monastery and the loch. The Boathouse Restaurant, on the shore of Loch Ness, is on site just a few minutes’ walk from your apartment and the Highland Club Lounge with billiards table, a table football game, wireless internet access and comfortable seating is at the other end of the cloister walk – great for rainy days in with or without a family!

The Chapter House

The Chapter House is a  two bedroom holiday apartment which sleeps *four + two. “A superb luxury self-catering apartment so close to Loch Ness you can hear the waves lapping on the shore”. Additionally, it makes for a fantastic child friendly holiday accommodation with access to all the facilities here.

The Chapter House is breathtakingly beautiful, so little wonder the monks used it to meet for their annual chapter and any other important community meetings. Consequently, today it is a top of the range self-catering apartment.

Dalwhinnie

Dalwhinnie stands by the riverbank at Highland Club Scotland, Fort Augustus Abbey. The entrance faces the River Tarff and is a sun hot spot. A large entrance hall has a spacious storage cupboard, and leads through to the hallway, family bathroom and living area.

Pet friendly, Dalwhinnie is an ideal holiday accommodation; it is also child friendly making it an excellent choice for a self-catering family holiday.

From the lounge of Dalwhinnie, you can walk through the patio doors onto the patio with table and chairs – great for dining alfresco. From there you look onto the Abbey Church, an impressive building, and from the Atrium walk out the main door and you look across the lawns onto the river, which is a lovely place for sitting in the summer or maybe an hour or two of relaxed fishing.

Dalwhinnie Activities

Our guests often enjoy visiting the many beautiful areas of the Scottish Highlands. However, you don’t need to travel far to keep the kids entertained. There is plenty to enjoy in the nearby village of Fort Augustus.

The Caledonian Canal Centre has just re-opened after a period of refurbishment and is open to visitors. Similarly, you can visit Cruise Loch Ness on the RIB or the more leisurely Legend of Loch Ness. You can enjoy these and much, much more.

Garden Cottage

Garden Cottage is very spacious and visitors to it can enjoy all the facilities of the Highland Club. It is set apart from the main abbey buildings, on the bank of the River Tarff, just before it enters Loch Ness. This unique riverbank location close to Loch Ness is what makes self-catering holidays in Garden Cottage so special.

Garden Cottage has its name because it is in the original monastery vegetable garden, a peaceful part of the abbey where the river meanders past the bottom of the garden. There is a table and benches in the garden for sitting out to enjoy al fresco dining when the weather allows.

This holiday accommodation cottage is built in a traditional style so is set over two floors with an open plan kitchen/living area. A lovely feature of Garden Cottage is the real log fire, also smart TV, DVD and broadband internet access.
