Glenmorangie Highland Club Scotland

Glenmorangie Highland Club Scotland, an interesting and delightful duplex apartment (or perhaps cottage might be a better description) is designed for couples but can sleep four by using the sofa bed in the lounge. Therefore it is ideal for young families on a tight budget and those who appreciate the excellent value for money that this apartment offers.

It is attached to the original Moat House of Fort Augustus Abbey yet Glenmorangie Highland Club Scotland is one of the rather more interesting and private apartments as it stands on its own.

Additionally, it is two minutes’ walk from the lovely village of Fort Augustus, which, by the way, is the geographical centre of the Highlands. We coined the phrase “Gateway to Loch Ness” because Fort Augustus is the perfect base for exploring Loch Ness and as locals, we can tell you both sides have lots of places to see and explore.

Fort Augustus village

Fort Augustus is one of the most popular holiday destinations in the Highlands, not just for discovering the wilds, and not so wild, attractions around Loch Ness but also for visiting Inverness, Fort William and the West Coast – all are within an hour’s drive from your accommodation.

Through the village runs the River Oich in addition to the Caledonian Canal and lock system, which was built by Thomas Telford in the early 1800’s. Restaurants, bars and shops are all available in the village.

Fort Augustus Abbey is a magnificent “A” listed building standing in 20 acres of mature and well-manicured garden grounds. The waters of Loch Ness lap the Abbey boundaries and so it is easy to see why the monks of past generations found it such a restful, spiritual place to be close to the land, to nature and to God. Perhaps it is now a haven for those wanting a rather quiet holiday or a tryst in which to spend a honeymoon or a romantic break.

Boys Dormitory

The Boys Dormitory is the perfect honeymoon or self-catering romantic break destination

The Boys Dormitory is a spacious 95 sq mtr, one bedroom penthouse apartment. It sits on the vaulted top floor of the old monastery in Loch Ness, with huge arched stone mullioned windows. The apartment is one of only a few in the entire abbey to enjoy views in three directions because every window offers sensational views of the landscape.

Boys Dormitory decor is in the most luxurious style. It combines quality antique and modern furnishings, featuring Victorian floorboards, antique paintings and prints, and vintage lighting sourced from a local chapel. Consequently, wonderful attention to detail has been paid throughout. It is the most idyllic place. Also, it is a far cry from when up to forty boarding students would share what was the original junior boys school dormitory, located between the Abbot’s chapel and a lovely bell tower.

Spacious, well lit and breath taking

The bright and airy large living room and open plan kitchen area offers the very finest level of comfort including designer sofas. The view from the large arched stone mullioned living room window straight up the loch is truly spectacular: a perfect seat to while away the afternoon reading a good novel, or watching for the legendary Loch Ness Monster.

The gorgeous master bedroom features another massive stone mullioned arched window. This is overlooking the Cloister Gardens, the turrets and towers of the Abbey, and the mountains beyond. Watching the stars at night from the comfort of your bed through this fantastic window is a magical experience. King-sized antique brass and iron bed, Victorian oak church pew, luxurious bed linens, choice of feather or fiber pillows, therefore offering total relaxation and comfort for the duration of your stay.
