Glenmorangie Highland Club Scotland, an interesting and delightful duplex apartment (or perhaps cottage might be a better description) is designed for couples but can sleep four by using the sofa bed in the lounge. Therefore it is ideal for young families on a tight budget and those who appreciate the excellent value for money that this apartment offers.

It is attached to the original Moat House of Fort Augustus Abbey yet Glenmorangie Highland Club Scotland is one of the rather more interesting and private apartments as it stands on its own.

Additionally, it is two minutes’ walk from the lovely village of Fort Augustus, which, by the way, is the geographical centre of the Highlands. We coined the phrase “Gateway to Loch Ness” because Fort Augustus is the perfect base for exploring Loch Ness and as locals, we can tell you both sides have lots of places to see and explore.

Fort Augustus village

Fort Augustus is one of the most popular holiday destinations in the Highlands, not just for discovering the wilds, and not so wild, attractions around Loch Ness but also for visiting Inverness, Fort William and the West Coast – all are within an hour’s drive from your accommodation.

Through the village runs the River Oich in addition to the Caledonian Canal and lock system, which was built by Thomas Telford in the early 1800’s. Restaurants, bars and shops are all available in the village.

Fort Augustus Abbey is a magnificent “A” listed building standing in 20 acres of mature and well-manicured garden grounds. The waters of Loch Ness lap the Abbey boundaries and so it is easy to see why the monks of past generations found it such a restful, spiritual place to be close to the land, to nature and to God. Perhaps it is now a haven for those wanting a rather quiet holiday or a tryst in which to spend a honeymoon or a romantic break.
